The Anse La Raye/ Canaries Constituency has long been neglected by successive governments and is viewed as one of the poorest constituencies on the island. But United Workers Party (UWP) Political Leader, Allen Chastanet, has vowed to change this, if his party is elected into office during the next general elections.

Deputy Prime Minister, Philip J. Pierre, had a large crowd of supporters of the ruling Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) in loud cheers on Sunday, when he lashed out at several opposition members. The Castries East MP told the gathering who came out to witness the launch of Dennery South candidate, Jerome Gedeon, in Dennery, that the last five years of the UWP government was the worst.
