VISIT OF THE "DUMONT D’URVILLE" TO SAINT-LUCIA

JPEGCastries : The French Embassy is proud to announce that a French navy ship from Fort-de-France will be making a call to port in Castries during the Remembrance Day ceremonies, in order to take part in this important and memorable celebration. On this occasion, cultural events will be organized on the wharf by the Alliance Française on the evening of 9th November 2013.

JPEGThe ship "Dumont d’Urville" will remain berthed at Pointe Séraphine from 8th to 12th November 2013, where it will engage in cooperation exercises with the St Lucia Marine Unit and local authorities. This ship is specialized in Humanitarian Disaster Relief, and possesses the ability to haul up on to a beach in order to bring assistance, including material/vehicles. The “Dumont d’Urville” is on its second visit to Saint Lucia, having previously carried out training operations in 2011 at the Soufrière Bay, and will again carry out a beaching, in close cooperation with the country authorities, on a dedicated area/beach, should the reconnaissance studies allow it. This exercise is to take place on 12th November 2013, shortly before leaving St Lucia territorial waters, heading south.
