The Embassy of France to the OECS Member States

The SCAC

The Counsellor for Co-operation and Cultural Affairs (COCAC) is the Head of the Department of Co-operation and Culture (SCAC) within the Embassy. Since 1st January 2009, he oversees the Member states of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States, and to a larger extent the countries of the wider Caribbean.

The activities of SCAC in the «Lesser Antilles» [1] as in the "wider Caribbean" [2] , promote, on one hand, the French-speaking world and to increase the value of cultural diversity. On the other hand, the SCAC supports higher learning and research for development. The projects implemented in this sector have two objectives:

- Unveiling the interests of the young generation and training of the elite.

- The development of scientific networks and partnerships adapted to the stake of a sustainable development

In a general manner, our activities are aimed, in priority, at pulling together the better part of the mechanisms and arrangements of the French Overseas Departments (FOD), to contribute to the economic and social development of the countries of the region.
